Canon point: Mid-Lucid Dreams, before he meets back up with MC after the event they were at got attacked.

History:

Caleb is the older brother figure/childhood friend of the MC in Love and Deepspace.

Similar to the protagonist's background, he grew up in an orphanage with her after the Chronorift Catastrophe. They eventually became test subjects of Ever. It was only when he was around eleven that Josephine (or Gran), one of the researchers, rescued both him and the MC by taking them away from the facility and adopting them as her 'grandchildren'.

After that, Caleb lived a relatively normal life with both the MC and Gran. He went to school, before he proceeded to pursue a career as a DAA fighter pilot at the Deepspace Academy. Unfortunately (and unbeknownst to his family), he never graduated. After experiencing a severely traumatic and near death accident in the Deepspace Tunnel during his final exam, Caleb gave up on becoming a DAA fighter pilot, instead submitting a transfer request to another organization.

At 25, Caleb was presumed dead after an explosion occurred at Gran's house. The MC was the only survivor. It isn't until over half a year later (estimated to be around eight months) that she will reunite with a very much alive Caleb. Tragically, it turned out that Caleb once more fell into the hands of Ever, specifically a scientist called The Professor. He was modified and experimented on, notably his right arm replaced by a bionic one and a Toring Chip implanted into him.

Now under The Professor's control, Caleb has become the new Farspace Fleet Colonel, forced to assist Ever in their objectives.

▪ Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.

The most pivotal event in Caleb's development was the Deepspace Tunnel accident during his final flight exam. His ship was thrown off course by an electromagnetic radiation flux, which fucked up both his navigational system and comms. He was adrift in space for days, until he finally decided to give up and accept his death. Fortunately, he somehow managed to survive, his ship crash landing on an island near Skyhaven. But he was never the same after that. Even though he fully recovered physically, Caleb now suffers from dissociative amnesia and recurring nightmares, as a result of his PTSD from the accident. He is incredibly terrified of dying and never being able to see MC again, so all of his choices and actions thereafter revolves around that singular motive.

▪ What is your character's biggest ambition at their current canon point? To what lengths would they go to see it to fruition?

His biggest ambition at the current canon point is to keep the MC safe from Ever. The Professor is seeking her out and Caleb 100% does not want that to happen. Even though he is being controlled by The Professor, he has yet to relent to him completely, resisting the influence of the Toring Chip and preventing it from tapping into his memories. He will go to whatever lengths is necessary to achieve this goal, even if it costs him his life. That being said, he would ideally like to survive, so he is working towards breaking free from The Professor's control over him.

▪ What would it take to truly upset your character, enough that they would act upon their feelings? Are they the sort to forgive?

Literally anything to do with the MC. He is generally cold, indifferent and unaffected, but if anyone tries to fuck with the MC, then he is not going to tolerate it and he isn't going to hesitate to act violently to get his point across. And no, he is not the forgiving type, especially when it concerns the MC.

▪ What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?

The lowest and darkest moment in Caleb's life would be the months after the explosion that presumably killed him. He was severely injured and hospitalized. He lost both Gran and the MC, while he was once again in Ever's clutches. The Professor might have saved his life, but he also used it as a means to modify, experiment and control him.

Given Caleb's personality, he did what he had to in order to survive. He coops everything up inside and he deals with whatever trouble comes his way on his own. He is calculative, manipulative, talented and ruthless enough to climb the ranks to Colonel in the Farspace Fleet and he has successfully carried out The Professor's tasks, all the while shielding the MC from him thus far. He still has his issues, but he doesn't let them interfere with his goals.

To put it aptly, he faces his demons by deception, resilience and, if necessary, violence.

Powers/Abilities: As an Evolver, Caleb possesses absolute control over gravity, capable of generating and manipulating it at will. He is a professional pilot, who is proficient in not only flying aircrafts in the sky but navigating flight in space as well. He is also a highly skilled combatant and marksman with a strong military background. Notably, he can enhance his weapons by infusing them with his Evol ability. Other areas he is adept in are cooking and engineering, even if they are closer to hobbies for him.

Goals: Ideally, I would like to explore deeper into his PTSD/past traumas, as well as get the opportunity to see how he would cope with once more losing contact with the MC/his world and having to establish new relationships in a different world.
